Rika and her husband Takkun recently got married and were enjoying a loving relationship until they had a big fight over the type of meat used in the nikujaga dish. Rika felt hurt by the criticism of her cooking but decided to talk to Takkun about it with advice from friends. Takkun apologized and they both opened up about their preferences regarding meat. They reconciled, realizing there are various ways to make nikujaga. Takkun also acknowledged his faults and they both agreed to always communicate and maintain a harmonious relationship in their marriage.
Continuing from last time. I’m Rica. My husband and I got married a few months ago. We were still newlyweds, and although it’s embarrassing to say it myself, we were living lovey-dovey days. We wanted to always get along as a couple, but recently we had a big argument. It was about the type of meat used in nikujaga. It made me very sad to think that my efforts in cooking were being criticized. However, after receiving advice from a friend, I decided to consult Takkun.
As soon as I returned, Takkun apologized politely.
Finally, I told Takkun the truth. “I was sad because the food that I always loved seemed strange and was rejected. Beef was always a staple for you, but in my family, we always ate pork.” He said.
Both of us sat at the table. On the table was nikujaga made with pork from yesterday.
We also talked about the meat used in nikujaga at our friend’s place. We were both surprised, didn’t know there were so many variations of nikujaga, and made up.
Takkun apologized sincerely. He also had something to remember, so we sought advice together. I was very happy when Takkun ate the pork and potatoes I made and said, “Thank you, it’s delicious.”
Also, I’m looking forward to Takkun making nikujaga this time. If we’re going to live together as a couple for a long time, there may be conflicts over trivial things.
At those times, I will remember this incident and strive to get along forever.
