Continuing from last time. This is Aya. I live with my husband Yasuharu and our second-year high school daughter Mayo. Mayo has a very serious personality with a strong sense of responsibility, and she even served as a class representative in her first year of high school. As a parent, I am often impressed by Mayo’s attitude of trying to accomplish what needs to be done. However, recently, I have been feeling uneasy as I was asked by a teacher to talk to Kanae-chan who is attending school in a separate room and to have lunch together… It feels like the school is forcing me to provide care.
“If that’s the case, why not just wait and see?” “Huh!?” I was surprised by Yasuharu’s words. “Maybe he just wants to help a classmate?” I shake my head at Yasuharu’s unexpected idea.
“You might be too fixated on Mayo, and there’s a possibility that the other child chose Mayo,” Yasuharu says. However, in that case, we also need to consider Mayo’s willingness to be selected. I’m curious to see how the school will handle this.
I thought talking to Yasuharu would make me feel better, but it only made me more uneasy. Kanae-chan might be asking the teacher to talk to Aya and have lunch with her. However, Mayo has not clearly refused to do so. Yasuharu also says, “It’s not that I don’t want to help Kanae-chan.” As a parent, it’s frustrating, but maybe all we can do right now is watch over them. I pray that Mayo will not be burdened too much.
To be continued, [Episode 3].
