Spring is the season when various spring flowers bloom all over the country. We introduce spots where you can feel like you are in a different world surrounded by flowers.
Since flower viewing is easily affected by the weather, you may have to postpone it to the next season if you miss the timing. Please feel free to go out during Golden Week or whenever you feel like it and enjoy the breathtaking views that can only be seen at this time of year.
1: Spring Hill Lupine Festival [Tochigi]
Do you know Lupine? It is a plant of the legume family native to South America and the Mediterranean, with flowers in various colors such as pink, orange, white, yellow, blue, etc. It is also called “Climbing Fuji” because it blooms facing the sun. A sky like an upside-down wisteria flower.
In the flower center of Kanuma City, Tochigi Prefecture, cultivation started from 3,000 plants 7 years ago and has now increased to 30,000 plants, 10 times the original number. The hill covered with colorful flowers is a popular photo spot in spring. A photo contest is also held during the festival, so why not try it out? Enjoy a moment of “happiness” surrounded by the sweet scent of Lupines.

2: Shibazakura and Nemophila Hill [Hiroshima]
The Serakougen Ranch, where you can enjoy beautiful flowers all year round with the concept of “making everyone happy with flowers”. In spring, 450,000 Shibazakura and 1 million Nemophila bloom beautifully. The world of pink and blue flowers spreading across the largest hill in western Japan is breathtaking.
Be sure to take some extraordinary and photogenic photos at the photo spots like the three-dimensional flower beds made of dress-like Shibazakura and Nemophila, and the “Happiness Bus Stop” surrounded by endless nature. The blue sky and Nemophila.

■ Hanamori Flower Village

3: Thank You Illumi 2023 at Shuzenji Rainbow Village [Shizuoka]
The theme of this season’s illumination event at the nature-rich theme park where you can enjoy flowers and scenery in all four seasons is “Rainbow Garden”. A “Stunning Lighting Show” with approximately 5,000 colorful roses and laser mapping spread throughout the park, and a “Rainbow Lily Show” where approximately 5,000 vibrant lilies create a large double rainbow with balloons floating on top. Wander around various places like the “hill” and be healed by the flowers and overflowing light.
Furthermore, dog lovers will be pleased to know that a “Light Dog Run” where you can spend time with your beloved dogs has been newly opened.

4: Umiheno Nakamichi Flower Picnic 2024 [Fukuoka]
The famous east-west 6km Blue Plain woven by Nemophila is known, but there are also many other attractions such as the cute purple round Allium giganteum making its first appearance. Various events where you can enjoy the flower-filled park, mainly on weekends, are held during the period.

5: Fuji Shibazakura Festival [Yamanashi]
The “Fuji Shibazakura Festival,” the largest in the Kanto region with about 500,000 Shibazakura in full bloom, is a spring tradition where you can enjoy the beautiful remaining snow of the World Heritage site, Mt. Fuji, and the colorful Shibazakura that fills the area. This year marks the 17th edition with the theme of “Stunning Pink,” incorporating seven types of Shibazakura in pink and purple into the pink rug. The impressive panorama with Mt. Fuji in the background. Don’t miss the colorful flowers that adorn the park, in addition to the moss-covered phlox.
