NTT DoCoMo announced that they will start providing a new feature called “Notification of Unintended Nuisance Message Sending” in early July 2024 to combat phishing scams using SMS. This feature will send alerts to the sender when potentially dangerous sites or URLs are detected in SMS messages, warning them about the unintended sending of nuisance messages. Users will be guided to check for any unfamiliar apps installed and delete them along with confirming their SMS communication fees. The feature will be automatically applied to all DoCoMo users, including those on ahamo and irumo plans, with no need for registration, and it will be free of charge. Users who do not wish to use this feature can opt out by changing their settings after mid-May.
