Yamauchi was particularly impressed with the “Kamatama-style mazesoba,” calling it a “surefire hit” and saying “it’s finished.” He even went as far as to say, “Let’s do a commercial with this, us!” But there was a reason behind their enthusiasm other than just the taste. What could it be?

The manufacturer of the “Kamatama-style mazesoba” is Acecook. Interestingly, the duo performed at live events sponsored by Acecook when they were young. It turns out, even though it was an indie live event, they were provided with prizes such as a year’s supply of soup vermicelli for the monthly winners.
As they gradually climbed up the ranks at these live events and eventually performed at Yoshimoto’s theater, the day came when they won an award for the first time, and they each received 10,000 yen from Acecook as a token of celebration!
“I’ll never forget that,” said Hamaguchi. With a feeling of gratitude from their younger days and the catchy sound of “Kamaitachi” and “Kamatama,” they desperately wished for a commercial appearance for a ridiculous reason.
